For our May meetup, we have invited two Digital Archivists from the University of Texas to lead a discussion on a vast and unique challenge — preserving the huge, complex, and rapidly growing volume of information that our modern culture produces.

Speakers:
Jennifer Hecker is an Archivist and Access Strategist at the University of Texas Libraries where she supports scholarly digital projects and does outreach work. She also runs the Austin Fanzine Project and the Austin Music Documentation Initiative. She will be presenting an overview of the archives profession, and featuring key issues and challenges in the world of digital archives.
Jessica Meyerson is Digital Archivist at the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History where she has developed best practices, procedures, and metadata guidelines for the Briscoe Center’s digitized and born-digital resources. She is currently Co-Principal Investigator on an IMLS National Forum Grant proposal to establish a Software Preservation Network, which will be the focus of her presentation.
