Our speaker this month is Jim Koen. Jim Koen is one of the original founders of Midas Green Technologies LLC and brings a rich technical, sales and executive background. Jim is a proven entrepreneur having founded, developed and sold several Internet related companies. Jim’s executive background spans 30 years and includes roles as CEO, Midas Green Technologies; CEO, Accelerated Education Services; COO, GF Educators; COO, Advanced Molecular Imaging Systems; VP Sales, Ashley Laurent; VP Network Sales/General Manager Austin, Darwin Networks; National Director ICG Sales for Netcom, Netcom Online Communications; CEO, Turning Point; VP Sales, Capital Network Systems, Major Markets Network Account Executive, AT&T and Senior Chief Petty Officer, United States Navy, Retired. Jim attended The University of Texas at Austin.
Jim is going to be speaking to us about the technology behind Server Immersion Cooling. Immersion cooling is a practice by which electronic
components are submerged in a non-conductive heat transfer liquid. Immersion cooling is capable of reducing server cooling expenses by up to 90%. With server farms representing an ever-larger slice of global energy expenditure as more people in engage in activities that demand large amounts of processing power, such as streaming HD video, VR-gaming, and cryptocurrency mining, finding ways to reduce the energy demands of servers will become increasingly critical in the battle against climate change. Jim will be discussing both the science and engineering behind Midas Green Technologies’s Midas XCI Immersion Cooling System, and how the mass deployment of such systems can lead to a greener, more energy-efficient future for the web.
